After a quick chat with my dynamic duo we were off and running.  We immediately went down two floors to get blood work done then it was back up six more floors for a CT, down four floors to the MRI machine, and then we plunged into the basement to fill out paperwork.  The Mayo clinic consists of two main towers in which the different specialty departments are stacked on top of one another.  You can access them through the multiple elevator bays that travel up and down, up and down all day long while a woman’s soothing voice tells you what floor and department you are in.  When we finally disembarked into the basement to fill out forms I quipped “department of mysteries” in the sing song voice of the elevator goddess. My mom giggled at the Harry Potter reference  but most of the other people in the elevator looked at me like I might have missed a stop and should have gotten off on the psych floor.  I guess these people were so busy saving lives like mine that they didn’t have time for horcruxes or hallows.  It was a shame really because they all looked like they could use a bit of magic. Looking back on them now I realize that they were the magic of that place.  They may not have had the elder wand or the resurrection stone but they were my best chance at getting home and back to normal life…
